Belong Ottawa

Belong Ottawa supports everyone—offering compassion, community, and care to all who walk through our doors. This includes people facing homelessness, living in precarious housing, or simply needing a safe place to belong.

Through our three drop-in day programs, we provide hot meals, laundry, showers, and other essential supports. More than just services, we offer connection and community.

Our Mission

We provide safe spaces that connect people and create community. We offer programs that address basic needs and foster dignity, wellness and hope for all.

Our Vision

An inclusive community where no one is marginalized and everyone is valued and supported.

Our History

Our journey began in 1954, when the Anglican Church launched a program to support men transitioning back into society after incarceration.

This compassionate initiative later became Centre 454—a welcoming drop-in space offering connection, dignity, and support.

In 1983, parishioners at St. Luke’s Anglican Church launched the St. Luke’s Lunch Club, later known as St Luke’s Table. It quickly became a vital gathering place for neighbours in nearby rooming houses, offering warm meals and a sense of belonging.

A year later, in 1984, The Well/La Source was created as a safe, inclusive space for women to gather, share, and support one another. It found its permanent home in 1997 at St. John the Evangelist Church, where it continues to thrive.

For decades, these three programs operated independently under the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, each serving vulnerable communities in their own way.

In 2017, St Luke’s Table and The Well united under shared leadership. By 2020, all three ministries officially came together as one organization—just as the world faced the COVID-19 pandemic. This moment challenged us to adapt, collaborate, and continue showing up for our community in new and meaningful ways. In 2023, Belong Ottawa was the new name of these programs, uniting under a shared mission.

Our Strategic Priorities are a roadmap for growth, impact, and sustainability.
